Black Trans Joy and Resistance

I just finished reading—and swallowing the pictures within—Revolution is Love: A Year of Black Trans Liberation. It is a record of the Stonewall Protests that took place from June 2020 to July 2021 in NYC. It is glorious in its depictions of Black Trans people, Queer people, allies, and others who marched for joy and liberation. I’ve included a few of the photos below, but it is worth getting it to take a look at yourself. Also, to read the forward, statements from the photographers, and other pieces of testimony sprinkled throughout.

Curiously, as an old, white, TGNB person in the Midwest, this is the second time I’ve come across Qween Jean, which just goes to show that sometimes, what you’re looking for finds you.

I got the book from my local library, but I had to ask them to buy it. They did, without hesitation. If you want to do that, here’s what you might need:
